EVENTS
The NRBA has hosted three property tax forums to date, featuring former governor Eliot Spitzer’s Downstate Regional Representative Lori Hall-Armstrong, Senator Thomas Morahan,
Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun, Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski, Jr., Supervisors
Marino and Phillips, and North Rockland Central School District administrators
and members of the Board of Education; formed a Tax Focus Group to help the School Board find ways to reduce its budget; and has been working
with Stony Point and the New York State Dept. of Transportation in an effort to
help lessen the impact of the closing of the Farley Bridge.
We also produced the first ever North Rockland Expo and Job Fair in 2008, showcasing area businesses and offering an opportunity to match
Rockland County businesses with prospective employees. The Job Fair featured
seminars and one-on-one counseling sessions by Strategy Leaders, Inc. and
Tomorrow’s Workplace for both business owners and job seekers. We followed in 2009 with the North Rockland Family & Business Expo, at which vendors representing a mixture of 47 different industries and
not-for-profit groups offered their various products and services to both
families and businesses.
And we’ve participated in a number of other events throughout North Rockland to show
our support for the community and promote our organization and members.
